Basement bathroom

Last summer I managed to get my Dad to drive from Ontario to Alberta, to build a bathroom in the basement for us. It took two weeks to get it to a usable point. I still had tiling and painting to do when he left. There is still finishing touches that need to be done a year later. 7 years in our first home and still renovating. The only room 99% done is the dining room. Here are some photos of the process.
Getting started.
Framing and plumbing in.
Tiling down, tub in.
Big walk in shower.
Vanities and toilet in. Floors grouted.
Super soaker bath tub. Tile done around the tub and carried to the shower.
Tile carried over the ceiling of the shower. It's all caulked now.
The vanities are from lowes, they were 130$ a piece. The mirrors are from Ikea at 20$ a piece.
Another view. This is the Girls bathroom. There is still a lot of work to be done. Just the small tedious stuff left.

Dining room

We went out on a limb and painted our dining room black recently. We love it! We needed more storage space in our home. So we bought 2 Pax wardrobes from Ikea and a base cabinet, with lots of extra shelving. The large map on the wall was a freebie off Kijiji. The globes above the cabinet are thrift store finds. As well as the Pyrex bowls. The dining room table was also a thrift store find for 20$. The chairs are from Ikea as well. I just love how bright the dining room is.

The dining room was a den and looked like this.

Stuck in the kitchen!

My husband has made a request, that I stay in the kitchen and slave away. Not really. But, he wanted me to cook brunch, make bruschetta, and a strawberry shortcake. He did offer in exchange, that he would vacuum the house and get the basement cleaned. I accepted.

BBQ Chicken Pizza

Homemade of course! This was a hit with the family last night. I do tend to forget how quick and easy it is to make dough from scratch. It took 10 minutes with the stand mixer.

My Garden Grows

I asked my Husband if he would build me a raised garden bed, he came through and built me two. He primed and painted them.
I planted the first box on May 8th, all from seed. The seeds have all sprouted. Now, I don't know much about gardening, but we have agreed this year will be trail and error. It's a learning experience for us all, kids included. I have to say I am pleased with the results thus far.
